Student Week 5 at Word of Life Florida was – well – unique.
Diversity: We had campers here from all walks of life
- 14 campers from Brazil
- 9 campers from a Hispanic Church in Miami
- 22 campers from a homeless shelter in Tampa
- 8 Campers from Florida Baptist Children’s home.
Many of these campers came on scholarship and God worked in their lives in great ways. What a great week.
- We had 62 campers saved last week
- We had over 300 campers come forward at the campfire service when Joe Jordan gave the invitation.
- We received 31 applications for the Word of Life Bible Institute.
The Bible Hour was on Habakkuk. Ric Garland challenged the students to have a real relationship with God by loving God, leaving the filth behind, leveling with God and living your faith out. The messages were dynamic and pointed.
The stories we have heard from the counselors are incredible.
One young man from the homeless shelter was ecstatic about the opportunity to worship God with 330 other teenagers and told our SIC director he could feel the love for God on this campus.
Twin brothers –Bryan and Ryan were from the children’s home and were an absolute wreck at the beginning of the week. It seemed like they were ready to kill each other. God changed their lives and by the end of the week they were on fire for God.
Thomas – a troubled teen whose mom is in prison, got saved, right with God and this week came back for another week.
A girl named Tracy left camp and was driving out the front gate but asked her mom to turn around. She came into my office crying saying she knew it was God’s will for her to go to the Bible Institute this fall.
We praise the Lord for the privilege of being a part of what God is doing to change lives.
